Transportation
Transportation services are designed to help individuals access a range of community services and activities as outlined in their Individualized Support Plan (ISP). These services may include day habilitation, sheltered employment, competitive employment, or other specified resources.
Key points about transportation services are that a maximum of two trips per day can be provided for an individual. A transportation trip is defined as a journey from the pick-up location to the destination specified in the individual’s ISP. Each trip is considered separately based on the designated start and end points.
PCBS Transportation is not intended to replace transportation provided to individuals for medical services covered under the Medicaid State Plan. In other words, if an individual needs transportation to receive medical services (like doctor visits, treatments, or other medical appointments), the Medicaid transportation services are the primary option.
Similarly, PCBS Transportation is not meant to replace emergency medical transportation as defined under the Medicaid State Plan. If an individual requires transportation in an emergency medical situation, that service is covered under Medicaid, not through PCBS transportation.
Transportation Drivers must be licensed and are at a minimum 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent. They have undergone specific training, including: Implementation of Individual Support Plans, Abuse/neglect prevention and reporting, CPR and First Aid certification, medication administration training, and Positive behavior support training.
